Manual inspection of every battery cover
An e-mobility manufacturer needed to cut down on manual inspection of EV battery covers. Every cover had to be checked to confirm all of its features were present, then loaded into a rack and tracked so the plant knew exactly which covers went where. Done by hand, that's time spent on every part, and inspection by eye can vary from one cover to the next.
We built a robotic cell that brings inspection, packout and traceability together. An operator loads each battery cover onto a fixture, and the robot takes it from there, picking the cover with a vacuum end-of-arm tool.
The robot presents each cover to a vision system that confirms every feature is present. Approved covers go straight into racks. While the robot loads, empty racks are conveyed into position, so there's always a rack ready to fill.

Traceability is part of the process, not an extra step. Each cover is tied to the rack it's loaded into, and part and rack data link to the plant's data system. The plant has a record of what was inspected and where it went.
Putting inspection, packout and traceability in one cell keeps quality checks the same on every part and takes manual inspection off the operator's plate. The cell runs at 70 seconds part to part.
