Support That Starts After the Machine Ships

Most equipment suppliers are finished when the machine is commissioned. That is the point at which the real cost of ownership starts: the tooling wears, the seals go, the controls age out of support, and one day the machine stops in the middle of a shift and nobody in the building has seen the inside of it.

Production support is the work of preventing that and answering it quickly when prevention fails. We do it across the full life of the equipment, and we do it on machines we did not build, because a plant running mixed equipment should not have to run mixed suppliers.

How We Support Production

Field Service

Preventive and general maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, retrofits, warranty support, and on-site training. Maintenance plans put the preventive work on a schedule and come with reporting after each visit, priority scheduling, and a discount on spare parts. This is the difference between maintenance that happens and maintenance that gets postponed until something breaks.

Spare Parts

Replacement forming and finishing tooling, wear parts, hydraulic and pneumatic components, and controls and electrical spares. We hold critical spare part inventory and can build a recommended spares list for your specific machines. Because we designed and built most of the equipment we support, a part can usually be identified from a model number or a worn sample rather than a part number you have to go find.

Finished Parts Supplier

When you would rather buy the part than run the machine. Short run production, overage runs, emergency capacity, and long term supply contracts, with parts delivered ready to run. This suits a new program that has not proven its volume yet, a capacity gap you did not plan for, and volumes too small to keep a machine busy. Forming and machining both happen inside our own group: our sister company, Steelcrest Precision, runs precision machining less than a mile from our forming floor. That keeps the critical path under our control instead of spread across outside vendors.

Machine Maintenance and Repairs

Scheduled maintenance, tooling troubleshooting, uptime recommendations, and refurbishment on machines that are mechanically sound but running behind what they should. A machine that is twenty years old is often worth bringing back rather than replacing, and we will tell you honestly which case yours is.

Our Tube Forming Lifecycle

Wauseon TubeTech machines are built to last decades, and so is our commitment to support them. Six stages cover the whole arc, from the first look at your part to supplying finished parts years later. Not every project uses all six, and plenty of customers join partway through.

Step 1: Process Evaluation We review your prints, processes, and parts, establish the best process for the part, review it with you, and quote it.

Step 2: Design and Build We design the concept, review it with you, and design the tooling package around it.

Step 3: Development A dedicated development technician modifies the tooling to your specifications, with tooling runoff in house, a five-piece tryout with samples submitted for approval, and capability studies available on request.

Step 4: Build to Print Parts produced to your print, with machining handled inside our own group, delivered ready to run.

Step 5: Production Support Uptime recommendations, downtime support, tooling troubleshooting, spare parts and tooling, machine maintenance, and refurbishment and modernization.

Step 6: Finished Part Supply Short run production, overage runs, emergency capacity, and long term supply contracts.

What does full production support include?

Four things: field service on your equipment, spare parts and replacement tooling, machine maintenance and repair including refurbishment, and finished parts supply when you would rather buy the part than run the machine. All of it applies whether the equipment is ours or another builder’s.

Do you support machines you did not build?

Yes. Comprehensive production and machine support applies whether the design is ours or yours. We regularly work with customers running mixed equipment across a plant.

What happens when a machine goes down?

You get a rapid downtime response, troubleshooting with engineers who know the equipment, and access to critical spare part inventory. Because we built the machine and the tooling in most cases, nobody is starting from scratch trying to understand your setup.

What is a maintenance plan?

A maintenance plan puts preventive maintenance on a schedule instead of leaving it to whoever has time. Plan customers get scheduled visits, reporting after each visit, priority scheduling over non-plan customers, and a discount on spare parts.

Can you supply finished parts instead of selling me a machine?

Yes. We run short run production, overage runs, and emergency capacity, and we take on long term supply contracts. Parts are delivered ready to run, which suits new programs, capacity gaps, and volumes that do not justify owning equipment.

Why would I outsource parts rather than buy the machine?

Because the machine is only part of the cost. Owning it means owning the tooling, the setup, the maintenance, and the labor. If your volume is uncertain, seasonal, or too small to keep a machine busy, buying the part is usually the better arithmetic.

Do you carry critical spare parts in inventory?

Yes. We hold critical spare part inventory and can build a recommended spares list for your specific machines, so the parts most likely to stop you are already on a shelf rather than on order.

Can an old machine be brought back rather than replaced?

Often, yes. Refurbishment and modernization can bring a mechanically sound machine up to current controls, safety, and cycle time for considerably less than a new machine costs. That work is covered on our process upgrades and retrofits page.

How long do you support a machine after it ships?
